This was the first and the last snowboarding at the Cypress Mountain. It took about 30 minutes to get there from North Vancouver. It was OK but I felt a little far from downtown.

There are three major places to enjoy sking and snowbording near Vancouver downtown. Cypress Mountain, Grouse Mountain, Mount Seymour. Vancouver is a great place for winter sports. The next olympics, it takes place in Vancouver in 2010, will be exciting and amazing, I guess.

*Japanese Only...

Remem
「We must remember. If we do not, the sacrifice of those one hundred thousand Canadian lives will be meaningless. They died for us, for their homes and families and friends, for a collection of traditions they cherished and a future they believed in; they died for Canada. The meaning of their sacrifice rests with our collective national consciousness; our future is their monument.」

Today I'd like to introduce my school.

I've been taking Project Management Intensive course at UBC Continuing Study(Robson Square) since Oct 3rd. It's a kind of specialist course to learn how to manage a project and to make a career for next job. If I say this course more difficult, it's the course which is based on a PMI(Project Management Institute) Standard: it's called PMBOK.

Most of the people who is taking this course are Canadians, so I think it's a practical environment for learning English.

We can see red and yellow leaves in Downtown yet. Of course I love Japanese autumn, but I think Vancouver's red and yellow leaves are nice as well.

This is inside of the school.

Classmates with an instructor.

I gonna finish this course on Feb 9th, then go back to Japan as soon as possible. I can see the end of my Canadian life... Time flies...

My next course is about Project Management at UBC Continuing Studies. This course is for the people who need to get effective knowledges, tools and skills for a real business project situation, and it's based on PMI Project Management Standard Methodology.

Why I gonna take this course is: I'm considering about necessity of changing my profession in my company, and also I know company needs the people who can manage a team effectively without trouble. I'd like to progress my career as a leader of a team. I believe it's a next step for me.

It was really clear and sunny day. Waves were nice hight and people were few. It was really good day for surfing.

After surfing we joined farewell patio patty at the nice pool side. We were invited by the guest of honor.(in my case, I was invited yesterday by chance)

I enjoyed a party with attractive people who really enjoy their life in San Diego. I'd like to be a person who can spend a time for his pleasure of a life, and say "I've been satisfied and it was really good life." at the end of my life.

Viva, San Diego!

I went to surf with George! You know, it was fabulous!
Surfing: it makes me free from busy world.

This is a self cash register I've seen at supermarket in San Diego(maybe, in La Jolla). I've never seen such a cash register before, so I took a photo. Is already there a self cash register in Japan??

This is a super tasty pizza,... and George's foot.

Open!... and George's foot.

Chicken-wings that you surely love at FIST JUICY BITE!

San Diego!

I drove from Los Angeles to San Diego about 2 hours.
The weather was extremely foggy, so I couldn't see enough front when I was heading to San Diego. I sometimes experienced heavy fog during San Diego stay. Most of it had come from the Pacific.

I went to Torry Pine State Reserve with George and his wife.

This is a Torry Pine. The seed is as big as woman's head. We can see pine tree in Japan, but I've never seen such a big pine seed!

This is a first lizard of me in north America.

On the way to Cardiff. Cardiff is a famous spot for surfing in San Diego. It's really clean, not crowded and comfortable beach.

Here we go! It's Cardiff!!!

I love this Copy! I wanna be like this guy in near future...

Another beach but I forgot the name... Help me, George?

I love this photo.

My colleague and one of the his roommates. His roommate was going back to Japan this day, and was going to stay there for about 10 days.

Santa Monica! This is the beautiful city where my colleague is living now.

I visited UCLA campus. It seems very clean and beautiful campus with contrasts of red blocks, white concretes and green trees. I'd like to come here to study something in the future...

Rodeo Drive! It's very famous for brand shopping area in the world.

It seems like they wanna buy something, but then seems like it's difficult to buy also. I think I can understand their feelings because I had faced same situation many times.

There is no name but this is PRADA!

Hol.ywood!

Kodak Theatre! You know "ACADEMY AWARDS", right? It takes place here every year!

Grauman's Chinese Theatre! This is known to ."Footprint Ceremonies". You might have seen some of Hollywood stars' footprints through TV.

This is the Johnny Depp's new footprint! I heard he came here yesterday and made new footprint.

Morgan Freeman!

I had visited to California from 20th to 29th September.
It was first time for me to go to California, and it was memorable trip during studying abroad. I met great people and saw beautiful landscape and beaches. I gonna show you some photos from my trip as well. I'm sure that you become to want to go there!

This is my rent-a-car, Nissan Murano. It was really comfortable to drive a long way. I'd like to have this car if possible. I rented it at HERTS rent-a-car near the LAX(Los Angeles International Airport).

One of my colleague in LA! Now he's learning about film distribution.

Wash your car, or somebody will write like this! haha!

Venice beach! It's really nice place to go out. I really wanna spend a time to read some books or just sleep all day there!

Santa monica downtown. Nice place to enjoy shopping!

I found "ZAGAT SURVEY in Los Angeles". I took this photo from curiosity because it was totally same appearance as in Tokyo.

Continue to the next day...

This is the first time to attend a wedding abroad. I've found many cultural differences from Japan. One of them is about a gift for wedding. Some of my friends taught me that there is a list(it's like a wishing list from the bride and groom ) at a department store, and attendances need to buy one as a wedding gift. In Japan, most of Japanese prepare money for the newlyweds. It's interesting for me.

Happy weddig! Jacky and Yuki!!!

The bride and groom with a cute flower girl.

At the wedding reception party, we ate tons of Chinese food. These are photos of some.

My_great_friends_from_Korea

They are my classmate, and also close friend of mine from Korea.
We went to Rocky together and I spent much time in Vancouver.

He is one of the my best colleagues at same company in Japan. If I didn't meet him as colleague, I couldn't come here. He took over all of my work, and still has managed those successfully.

He is great!

On the last day, we came back to Vancouver from Kelowna.
In that morning, we went to a winery to see and to taste wine.
There are lots of wineries, so Kelowna is very famous for wine in British Colombia. We can taste and enjoy wine there.

PageTop
On the day 3, we went to Kelowna from Banff.
Kelowna is my favorite place to visit. There is the Okanagan Lake. I love parks beside the lake because there are high contrasts among blue lake, green lawn, and white statue colour.

PageTop
On the day 2, we went through the Rockies from Jasper to Banff.
We enjoyed great view from the Rockies. It was really awesome even if I came here twice in two months.

These two photos are Athabasca falls.

In the Rockies!

Lovely squirrels!

These seven photos are Columbia Icefield. As you know, this Icefield is one of the most famous Icefield in the Rockies.

These two photos are Lake Louise.

Now my parents are staying at Vancouver, so I took them to the Rockies this week. We went to Jasper first this time.

On the way to Jasper, we saw a rainbow!

These three photos are Jasper. Jasper is not so big town, but it seems like comfortable town.

The gay parade produced by pride took place on the Denman street today.
We can't see such big gay festival in Japan. It was amazing for me, and I've never seen that gay people are welcome by society like this. It gave me recognition that they are also part of us.

I'm taking a scuba diving course "Open Water" from today, which is a license name of scuba diving. I have to take two diving classes after school in a week. To take a scuba diving license is one of the goals in my life, and I heard that it's cheaper to get license here than in Japan, so applied it and have started it.

My school for scuba diving is below. If you're interested in scuba diving, check this site!

UBC Aqua Society
 http://www.ams.ubc.ca/clubs/aqua/

*UBC students are managing here. I heard it's a NGO.
That's why it's cheaper than others!

At the end of this month, I gonna get a Open Water license! Yahoo!!!
(I hope there's no problem to get it.)

I made a congee again.

You know, in Japan, we believe that congee(Japanese style) is really good for body when we catch a cold because it's easy to absorb for us; we need to take much energy during illness.

I also made special drink to take a vitamin. It's a juice with Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit, Ginger, and Honey.
Actually, it worked very much! If you feel a cold, please try it!!

Today, I went to the Night Market in Richmond with a roommate and his friend. I didn't know about it before, but my roommate found its information in the book; which name is "Binbo Hima Ari", and it's a very famous free book in Vancouver!(Check "http://www.hima-ari.com" when you wanna know about this book! It's also a useful web site.) The night market is like a "Yatai" which it's popular for in Japan or Taiwan, and we could enjoy shopping, eating, and taking photos until 11pm. This night market is opening every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday around midnight(until 11pm only on Sunday) between June 24th and September 25th.

This is "Kingyo Sukui" in Japanese, but in English...

it's called "Go Fish"!

「胸罩」in Chinese =「BRA」in English. It's interesting, isn't it?

This is a demonstration for selling magic towels. I've never seen this kind of sell style in Canada. It was first time for me to see it.

"Remote Cashing Machine"! It was also first time to see.

This is a booth for Japanese "Takoyaki". I had not eaten "Takoyaki" since leaving Japan. It was so long time!

This is a "Ohbanyaki" in Japanese. I loved it in Japan.

This is "Takoyaki"! This taste was almost same as in Japan.

This is "Oden" in Japanese. I missed "Nihonshu"(Japanese Sake) when I was standing in front of this booth.

This is like Japanese "Taiyaki". In English, it's called "Red Bean Waffles".

This booth was very popular, so there was a long line.

This is like Japanese "Chimaki", but unfortunately, it was not so tasty...

Have you ever tried "Cheese Tofu"? It was first time to eat it for me. My roommate and his friend could eat only one cheese tofu. I could eat over three. It had really strong smell like "kitchen garbage", but it tast was fried tofu.

This is the "Chinese Tofu".

We had a good time there. I suppose I'll come back here with other friends soon.

Do you know "Congee"?

"Congee" is a rice porridge, and it's especially famous for Chinese congee in Vancouver. We also have rice porridge in Japan, but we don't eat it very often, except when we catch a cold.

Today, I supposed I caught a cold because of last night's fire alarm accident(suddenly our room's fire alarm rang around 3am, and it bothered our peaceful sleeping, so we couldn't sleep well.), so I tried to make congee(it's not real Chinese congee, just my style).

This is the one.

My style congee ingredients:
  - Rice
  - Shrimp
  - Basa fillet
  - Green pepper
  - Enoki mushroom
  - Garlic
  - Chicken poulet(Bouillon)

The taste is, of course, fabulous!

I also know the most delicious congee restaurant in Vancouver, so I can teach you where it is if you want. please ask me or visit me, and I can take you there.

I've just started to go to new school today. I'm taking the pronunciation program at the EBC(English Bay College). It's located at Gastown, and it's very small school. My pronunciation class members are unfortunately all Japanese, but it's not so big problem for me. My teacher said "How much you'd like to improve your pronunciation is the most important thing in this class, and you should put your own goal, and just do your best for it", so I suppose I just learn about how to pronounce correctly, practice it, and review it everyday. In a month, I'm looking forward to how much my pronunciation will improve.

I finished a three months ESL session today. It seemed very long, but I felt it was really short time. I could study hard, and improve my English. I could have lots of friends and teachers from many countries, and it was my big pleasure. I think I really enjoyed this session. Several events, trips, and activities, there were so many things to do, and those things taught me English, cultural differences, and how to communicate with others.
I wanna say to everyone, "Thank you!".

From July 4th, I'll go to another school to improve my pronunciation. It's just one month. It gonna be a little bit difficult to see my ELI friends, but I definitely go to the ELI when they have a event!

This is one of the end but also one of the start of new life!
